Dear
Mr. and Mrs. Weiss,
Georgie
and his mother, Dubrava, are most excited about Michael's
upcoming performances in the Olympics. We are all looking
forward to watching you skate, wish you the very best, and
hope that you will win the Gold Medal!
As
promised, Georgie has drawn two sketches of you, Michael,
and they are attached to this email. I hope you will see them
as enchanting as I did when I first saw them. Georgie has
watched you skate each time you have been on TV and feels
that you are a very courageous man. That is why he chose to
name both sketches, A Test of Courage. He is very excited
to know what you think of them!
With
kindest regards,
Nanette Manning, President

Georgie
Pocheptsov, or Georgie as he is affectionately known to his
family and friends, is nine years old. He was born in Philadelphia,
PA in 1992 to Ukrainian parents. At an age where most children
have barely graduated from finger painting, Georgie was drawing
jesters, pregnant women, and four-headed giraffes, all in
luminescent colors. He started to paint at the age of 17 months,
6 months before he started to talk. His perception of life
is his own. It is a magic world of angels and monsters, birds,
animals, and fish, filled with love and happiness. Completely
self-taught, Georgie is often compared by the press as a young
Picasso or Chagall. Georgie has appeared in many leading magazines,
including People, Parents, Time, US Art, Art and Antiques,
Art News, Architectural Digest, and The Carolinas. He has
also made appearances on The Oprah Show, Good Morning America,
The Today Show, Ripleys Believe It or Not, Later Today
Show, The Maury Povich Show, and Men Are From Mars, Women
Are From Venus. Internationally, Georgie has been featured
on television programs in London, Paris, Korea, South Africa,
and Holland. He has exhibited at the international Art Expo
in New York, Atlanta, and California annually since 1998.
His work is on display at numerous galleries throughout the
US, including Chicago, New York, New Orleans, Washington,
D.C., Florida, and Wilmington, NC.
