Michael wins Bronze at Figure Skating challenge

Michael completed his third season as U.S. National Champion by finishing third at the ABC International Figure Skating Challenge. The competition was held April 8 at Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Michael, who won Trophee Lalique in Paris, medaled in all but the World Championship in his final five events. It was a remarkable comeback for the determined Weiss.

He started the season with two coaches, turned to Don Laws full-time midway in the season, and rallied to win his third U.S. Championship along the way.

Less than two weeks ago he showed his athletic and gymnastic background by performing a back flip with a full twist at the World Championships exhibition. No other skater in the world had ever tried that trick. Michael has named it “The Tornado.”

Michael has already begun touring with Champions On Ice. He will be performing to the Jay Geils band’s “Centerfold”.
